A Dive Center Built for Conservation
Gili Conservation Dive Center is a profit-for-good conservation dive center in Gili Air, Indonesia, built around marine research, education and reef protection within the Gili Matra Marine Reserve.
We believe each dive should make a difference.
Our Story
It started with a simple belief: tourism doesn’t have to harm the ocean, it can help protect it. More than a decade ago, Rose and a small group of friends began questioning the role of divers and travelers in fragile marine ecosystems. Instead of just witnessing the beauty of the reefs, what if people could actively help protect them?
That idea became Gili Shark Conservation, an initiative that invited people to step into the role of scientific divers, contributing to real research and conservation while experiencing the ocean in a more meaningful way.
What followed wasn’t a fixed plan, but a process of listening and adapting. The reef dictated the direction. As new challenges emerged, so did new research and programs. But one challenge stood out: access.
In 2021, Rose founded Coral Catch, Indonesia’s first all-female coral restoration and research team. She made it her mission to empower 100 Indonesian women by 2030 to pursue a career in marine conservation by giving them a coral restoration scholarship.
By 2025, it was time to bring everything together. The Gili Conservation Dive Center is a place where conservation, education and community meet. Here, every dive serves a purpose and everyone can join. Because we believe that protecting the ocean starts with falling in love with it.

Why do we exist
Turn tourism into marine protection
Most travel experiences are built for enjoyment, not protection. We exist to give visitors a clear way to support marine conservation and research through the dives they already want to do.
Make marine conservation more inclusive
Conservation cannot last without local leadership. We exist to train and employ local people, especially women, with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to lead marine protection long term.
About the Marine Park
The Gili Matra Marine Reserve
Based in the heart of the Gili Matra Marine Park, a 2,954 hectare Marine Protected Area surrounding Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air in North Lombok, Indonesia. Established in 1993 and now managed by BKKPN Kupang under the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, this reserve protects some of the most important coastal ecosystems in the region.
The Gili Matra Marine Reserve includes 236 hectares of coral reefs, 89 hectares of seagrass meadows, and mangrove ecosystems that support over 500 species of reef fish, as well as green and hawksbill turtles and resident whitetip reef sharks. These ecosystems are not only biodiversity hotspots, but they are also critical for food security, coastal protection, and local livelihoods.
